I have spent a small fortune over the years on courses and visits to shamans, counsellors, energy healers and psychics. I was searching — for relief, for understanding, for healing.

It took one extremely bad experience to bring that search to a halt.

During a supposed shamanic healing ritual, I found myself writhing on the floor in pain. I was later told my chakras had been “blown wide open”… and then informed that I was possessed because of my reaction.

It was enough.

In that moment, something in me steadied.

Surely Spirit has equipped us with the capacity to heal ourselves.

I made a vow: never again would I pay for, or entrust, my healing to another person. And a lesson I learned — late, but thoroughly — is this: be very careful who you open your energy to. A title, a training, a spiritual vocabulary does not guarantee integrity or good intention.

That vow marked the beginning of two years of intense personal healing.

Each day, I would lie on the floor and listen to gentle music for ten minutes. Then I began to experiment with sound — simple vowel tones, a long sustained “Aaaa” vibrating through my chest.

One day, something shifted.

Suddenly I was at the bottom of the ocean. Whales surrounded me. I could hear their sonar — deep, resonant — rippling through my body. I could see energy waves moving around and through me, buffeting gently, like currents.

This became a daily practice for months.

We are made mostly of water. When we emit sound, vibration travels through us like waves through the sea. This is why it matters what we listen to — and even what we think. Thoughts carry frequency. They create movement within our being.

The atmosphere around us is not so different from water; it too carries vibration.

I came to understand that my own voice was not just for speaking.

It was an instrument.

So I encourage you — gently — to embrace Whale. To explore healing through your own sound. You may feel self-conscious at first. You may feel a little foolish.

Stay with it.

Your body will tell you when to begin. It will also tell you when to stop.

May you dive deep

and soar high.

“I notice what notices me.”
