Clapping for the Universe (Volume Control Optional)

Over the years, Sage had practised all kinds of prayers, rituals, meditations, and more.

One of her favourite prayers was called Invocation for the Removal of Obstacles.

What a wonderfully meaty title that is!

It’s quite a long prayer, and Sage took the trouble to learn it by heart—so she could carry it with her wherever she went.

She had even recited it in the pitch black of night, standing on the balcony of a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean.

Clapping.

While imagining whales and other sea life being startled by the unexpected vibrations hitting them rather haphazardly.

The prayer was about—just in case you didn’t guess from the title—removing obstacles from one’s life.

Sage would readily admit that she had a fair few obstacles to get rid of… a few of them people!

She fervently hoped that the two individuals giving her grief might simply disintegrate—fall into a neat pile of dust.

Then she could thank the universe for placing them in her life to teach her… whatever… and return them in a slightly altered form.

Sage did notice quite a few changes over time—sadly not the disappearance of the aforementioned individuals.

But she was encouraged enough to faithfully keep up the practice each night before bed.

As part of the ritual, you had to clap at regular intervals during the prayer.

The idea being that you’re letting the spirit world know you mean business—encouraging them to pay attention.

Sometimes the claps were soft.

Sometimes louder.

Now, Sage developed a rather strange notion…

That the soft claps would only attract local spirits.

And if she wanted to get the attention of those in Australia, China, or Tibet… she would need to clap much louder.

(Let’s not even question how they’d understand her.)

What a wonderfully absurd idea—that spirit could be limited by time or distance.

Or that it might only understand the language of wherever it happened to be.

Honestly…

What a very Sage way of thinking.
